March 2025 Astrology: Key Planetary Shifts & Their Impact on You

In a recent conversation with my friend and psychic intuitive, Crystal Heinemann, I found myself asking, “Why am I seeing more and more clients facing intense, life-altering events and seeking guidance and support now more than ever?”

Lately, I’ve noticed a rise in fear, anxiety, and confusion. While global and national events have undoubtedly helped to contribute to this emotional turbulence, I couldn’t help but turn to the heavens for answers. Could the current planetary shifts be amplifying this collective unease?

In this month’s article, I want to explore a few key astrological events that may be shaping our experiences including retrogrades, the upcoming Spring Equinox, and the start of Eclipse Season.

In my personal experiences, I can start to trace the beginning of these shifts around the time that Pluto transitioned into Aquarius on November 19, 2024, which also coincided with a change in our political structure. World-wide there have been many changes and upheavals impacting our emotions and sense of safety and security.

We also had Mars Retrograde opposing Pluto at the same time beginning in November of 2024, and this will linger back and forth until April of this year. This combination creates a situation where we are confronting our deepest fears and insecurities and we are trying to figure out how to deal with some of our most primal emotions. Depending on where this occurs in our personal charts shows where these emotions exhibit most strongly.

Around the same time, from December 24, 2024, to January 31, 2025, Jupiter retrograde formed a tense square with Saturn, adding another layer of pressure. This aspect can create frustration, as we sense the need to grow, whether spiritually, in relationships, or in pursuit of our goals. However, we feel blocked from making progress. It’s like hitting an invisible wall, making it difficult to consciously understand what’s holding us back. This energy isn’t fading anytime soon, as the aspect will return in June 2025, keeping its influence in play.

These are just a couple of aspects that came to mind as I was pondering this question.

As we head into March, both Venus and Mercury turn retrograde. Venus will be retrograde in the sign of Aries from March 1st until April 12th. This will be a time when we re-evaluate and reflect on the relationships in our lives. Questioning and reassessing if those relationships bring the love and joy that we want, need, and deserve.

Venus retrograde is going to be challenging you to assess how open or blocked your heart is and asking you to think about your connection with others. You may also begin to re-examine your finances, your values and if you are prioritizing your self-worth. Whatever is happening, don’t rush to make any decisions in this area of life. Take your time and consider all options until Venus stations direct.

Mercury is retrograde from March 15th until April 7th, so this adds to the element of confusion. Be aware that communication break-downs may occur while both of these planets are slowing down. Further adding to the confusion and frustration, Mercury also enters Aries on March 3rd, so impulsive reactions and saying things we don’t mean could easily happen. Be aware that listening may not be your strongest gift during this time. Remind yourself that it is important to listen to other people’s points of view in order for you to learn to see things from different perspectives. The best thing you can do is to practice mindfulness and stay aware of what is happening in all areas of your life during this time period.

During these retrogrades, the Sun enters Aries on March 20th, marking the Spring Equinox, a time traditionally associated with fresh starts. However, with Mercury and Venus still in retrograde, it’s wise to hold off on launching anything entirely new to avoid potential frustrations and setbacks. Instead, this period is ideal for revisiting unfinished projects or ideas that were put on hold. Whether something was still in the planning stages or sidelined by other priorities, now is the perfect time to refine and bring it to completion.

Another major event happens in March as well. Eclipse season begins with a Total Lunar Eclipse on March 14th and ending the month with a partial solar eclipse on March 29th. Eclipses are known to significantly impact us on an emotional level.

The Total Lunar Eclipse on the 14th is also known as the Blood Moon, and occurs on the Virgo/Pisces axis. This is the second eclipse in a set of seven occurring along the Virgo-Pisces axis, the first one being a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on September 17th, 2024. The last one on this axis will occur on February 20, 2027, in Virgo.

Since this is the first eclipse of the year, it may feel a bit more intense, especially for the mutable signs, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces.

Eclipses bring powerful revelations and signal major shifts and transformations. With this eclipse in Virgo, the focus is on self-improvement; evaluating how you navigate your personal life, daily routines, and habits. It’s a time to release outdated patterns related to work, health, and wellness while reassessing how you give of yourself in service to others, ensuring your efforts align with your true purpose.

Lunar Eclipses bring your unconscious feelings to the surface. They want you to take a look at emotions that have run their course and open yourself to cleansing your energetic emotional cycle. With this eclipse on the South Node of the Moon’s orbit, this further encourages us to let go of what no longer is serving us, releasing unnecessary habits and relationships that have served us well in the past, but are no longer useful. Allow yourself to acknowledge where these old behaviors and patterns are dragging you down and allow your soul to continue in this lifetime where it is heading. This is a time to begin to balance your karma and begin to accept new connections and discover new things.

To fully understand and harness the energy of an eclipse, it’s helpful to know where it falls in your birth chart. Lunar Eclipses are powerful moments of illumination, bringing clarity and deepening your connection to intuition. They can serve as a stepping stone to move beyond fear, confusion, and frustration, opening the door to new possibilities and a higher state of awareness.

The month ends with the Aries Solar Eclipse, which is the final in an Aries-Libra set of six eclipses that began on April 20, 2023. This eclipse is occurring closer to the North Node of the Moon, so this is giving us the opportunity for growth and development and to follow what we feel is our mission in this life. The focus here is on our personal growth.

This Solar Eclipse is closely aligned with Chiron, the wounded healer, so it is a potent time to finally address deep emotional wounds and embrace who you really are on a fundamental level. Be kind to yourself and embrace self-love as you navigate this deeply personal journey.

As we move through March, the energy is definitely intense, urging us to reflect, release, and realign. With Venus and Mercury retrograde, patience and self-awareness will be key, especially in matters of the heart, communication, and personal growth. The upcoming Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo invites us to shed outdated patterns, embrace clarity, and step into a more authentic version of ourselves. The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries  at the end of the month encourages us to embrace our inner warrior and move toward our soul’s purpose.

While things may feel overwhelming, they also offer profound opportunities for transformation. By tuning into these energies with mindfulness and intention, we can navigate the challenges with grace and emerge stronger, wiser, and more aligned with our true path.
