Embracing Change: November's Astrological Insights

It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final month of autumn. The vibrant leaves will soon make their last display of color before gently falling to the ground, signaling the preparation for the winter months ahead. The days continue to grow shorter and we feel the energetic shift to pull inward and enjoy this slower time of rest and reflection.

The astrological signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius share the month of November. Scorpio’s fixed water energy ushers us into the beginning of the month. Allow yourself to feel the power of your emotions and to dive into your inner resources during this time. Discover not only what your strengths are, but explore what your closest relationships mean to you. This is the most intense and passionate sign in the zodiac. Don’t be afraid to go to those places where you hold deep thoughts, fears, and emotions; not only concerning yourself but where they intersect with others as well.

The month kicks off with a New Moon in Scorpio on November 1st, encouraging you to dive deep into your emotions. This Moon carries a seductive and mysterious energy, unafraid of exploring hidden depths. You'll feel compelled to understand intimacy, identify what's missing in your life, and address any qualities that seem out of balance. It's a powerful time to tune into your intuition—Scorpio is known for its strong intuitive abilities. Use this gift to begin shaping a new vision for your future.

If you are involved in any projects or endeavors that require mental focus or direct communication, on November 2nd, Mercury in Scorpio forms a trine aspect with Mars in Cancer, creating a combination of a sharp mind, a confident and straightforward communication style, and the ability to creatively negotiate, making this a good time to show off your leadership skills.

On November 3rd, two planetary oppositions occur: Mars in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn, while Venus in Sagittarius opposes Jupiter in Gemini. When Mars faces off with Pluto, you might notice passive-aggressive tendencies emerging. This aspect can stir up competitive or aggressive feelings, but if you channel that energy into something creative or a physical activity, you'll be able to pursue your goals in a more constructive way.

Fortunately, Venus opposing Jupiter at the same time adds a gentler influence. This transit brings joy, adventure, and excitement into your life. However, while Venus promotes love, beauty, and indulgence, Jupiter amplifies everything with his energy of abundance and expansion. Be mindful not to overindulge—moderation is key to fully enjoying these positive effects.

November 4th, the Sun will be in a trine aspect with Saturn in Pisces. This is a time to get serious about your dreams and decide how you can be more responsible and self-disciplined to get the job done. Make sure your visions and goals are realistic so that you will be able to more easily achieve them.

On November 9th, Venus in Sagittarius forms a square with Neptune in Pisces, while the 1st Quarter Moon in Aquarius also squares the Sun. Since both planetary aspects involve squares, expect some tension and stress. You might feel uncertain about your values in relationships, over-idealize a romantic connection, or struggle with self-worth. The Sun-Moon square could create inner conflict between personal desires and home or family obligations, leaving your heart and mind out of sync. With the Moon in Aquarius, try to come up with unique and innovative solutions to help balance these opposing forces.

Venus leaves Sagittarius and enters the sign of Capricorn on November 11th. When Venus is in Capricorn romance and love take a more serious turn. Whether you are in a committed relationship or reflecting on what being in a relationship means to you, issues of building a loving foundation and making a long-term commitment becomes important. Take the opportunity during this month long transit to figure out what a mature relationship looks like. Think about what worked and didn’t work in the past, and make a conscious decision to think about what commitment means and what security, stability, and boundaries look like in a healthy relationship.

After 4 ½ months in retrograde, Saturn in Pisces goes direct on November 15th. During the time Saturn was in retrograde, hopefully you were able to use the power of Pisces profound intuition to lead you forward connecting more deeply to your inner knowing, spirituality, imagination and creativity, and using those qualities to restructure and rebuild the things that are no longer serving you.

As Saturn stations direct, take time to reflect on what you accomplished during retrograde and decide how to align yourself with any transformations that occurred. Wherever Saturn is transiting in your chart, is where you will see the most opportunities for change and development in your life. Incorporate more imagination and intuition into your daily life to inspire greater success, regardless of which area is currently in focus.

When the ruler of structure and rules is living through the sign of idealism and spirituality, you will need to take the time to set boundaries and look at things with a more discerning eye, yet at the same time learn to let go, trust more, and have faith in the unknown.

November 15th brings a Full Moon in Taurus, highlighting the balance between self and others. This Full Moon illuminates relationship dynamics, offering clarity on the lessons you've gained and how they contribute to meaning and fulfillment in your life. You may experience tension between your desire for stability and security and your fears surrounding vulnerability and sharing resources with others. Use this time to shed light on what you need to let go of to cultivate deeper, more rewarding connections.

On November 16th, Sun in Scorpio will be in opposition to Uranus in Taurus. This transit can actually be an exciting time. The energy is exhilarating, bringing a feeling of independence, freedom, and a bit of rebelliousness. Remain open to opportunities that align with your authentic self. There may be disruption to the same old tiresome life structures, but do not resist change. It will only make you more stuck and frustrated. Follow your inspiration and a more innovative future.

On November 18th the Sun will be in a Trine with Neptune in Pisces bringing a sense of idealism as you contemplate both your dreams and responsibilities. Because Neptune can sometimes blur the lines between reality and illusion, and can also bring out a lovely but sometimes overly altruistic nature, it will be important for you to find ways to keep yourself grounded in activities that promote a down-to-earth, balanced, and responsible approach to these things. Make an effort to incorporate a regular meditation or journaling practice or simply spend more time in nature. Practicing self-care and incorporating a set of boundaries with others will keep you connected to your inner self during this period.

At the same time, Mercury in Sagittarius opposes Jupiter in Gemini, creating an intriguing dynamic since Mercury rules Gemini and Jupiter rules Sagittarius. This aspect brings a surge of optimism and enthusiasm. Since it is at the same time as the Sun Trine Neptune, it's crucial to balance these big ideas with practicality and realism. You'll likely be flooded with original and exciting thoughts, but you'll need to ground yourself by adding structure and discipline to stay focused. This is a significant transit, as it will prompt you to reassess and refine your thoughts and goals for the future.

In my opinion, the most significant transit of the year takes place on November 19th, when Pluto finally leaves Capricorn for good and begins a new cycle as it moves into Aquarius for the next 20 years. I’m genuinely excited to see what the coming weeks, months, and years will bring. While we should expect some chaos and confusion during this transformative period, I remain hopeful that it will usher in a new era focused on societal progress—transforming humanitarianism and social justice for the better. This shift has the potential to create a more cooperative, understanding society that awakens to the persistent inequality and injustices we must address.

To make the most of this transit on a personal level, I suggest examining where Pluto is transiting in your chart. This will offer insight into the area of your life where you’ll experience the most transformation and guide you in navigating these changes with wisdom and knowledge.

On November 21st the Sun enters Sagittarius and we officially enter Sagittarius season. Sagittarius brings an optimistic, adventurous, and expansive energy just in time for the holiday season. Embrace the gifts of this season by being open and curious about differences in other philosophies, cultures, and new experiences. There are so many possibilities out there that you may haven’t even thought of yet. Expand your world through long-distance travel, learning new things, signing for up interesting webinars or workshops, or anything that will broaden your horizons and create new experiences.

The Moon enters her last quarter phase on November 22nd. The Moon is once again in half-light and half-dark. The lessons during this phase revolve around letting go, being able to sense your own truth, and moving toward more transformative experiences. Reflect back on the month and evaluate what still remains useful and what no longer serves you. This is all about making space for new and fresh ideas to enter your life.

Mercury goes retrograde once again on November 25th until December 15th. This is right during the holiday rush affecting both Thanksgiving and Christmas. You will want to be extra diligent if you are traveling during this time period. Make sure you double-check your plans, get to the airport with extra time to spare before your flight, and be on top of all emails and all other correspondences to ensure a smooth journey.

With Mercury retrograding in Sagittarius, it's important to be mindful of how you communicate. Mercury governs ideas and words, while Sagittarius is known for its blunt honesty, which can lead to speaking impulsively and causing misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Since these energies are at odds during the retrograde, it’s a good idea to hold off on starting new projects. Instead, use this time to do thorough research, lay the groundwork, and focus on preparation to set yourself up for success later.

On November 27th, the Sun will Trine Mars in Leo. This aspect is very positive and harmonious between the two, and provides both self-confidence and leadership in beginning the process of creating something new for yourself. There is a lot of creative energy associated with this transit. Channel that energy into bringing forth your inner personal drive and inspiration in order to begin the process of moving toward your goals and aspirations.

We end the month and begin the next month with a New Moon in Sagittarius. This New Moon is straddling both time zones, occurring on November 30th at 10:21pm Pacific time, and at 1:21am on December 1 Eastern time.

The energy of this New Moon brings optimism, enthusiasm, and adventure. It brings creativity and inspiration to your aspirations. This is a great time to visualize how you will plant the seeds for optimistic new ideas, personal growth, and to consider what in your life needs to be recharged.  With the vibrant energy of Sagittarius guiding you, take the time to dream big, visualize your goals, and begin preparing for the exciting new paths that lie ahead.
