Officially Summer: The Astrology of June
A Month of Clarity, Expansion & Heart-Centered Growth
As we move forward from the Sagittarius Full Moon on May 31st, we carry with us a renewed sense of clarity and perspective. This Full Moon offered a moment to step back, see the bigger picture, and reconnect with a path that feels truly aligned with who we are becoming.
The energy here is both inspiring and expansive. It invites us to dream bigger, to believe in what is possible, and to embrace a more creative and open perspective as we consider where we are being guided next.
Now, as we move into June, the energy begins to pick up, inviting us to step into the light of the Sun and start bringing those dreams and desires into form.
Gemini Season: Curiosity, Clarity & New Perspectives
The month opens with the Air energy of Gemini, helping us make sense of what has been unfolding over the past few months.
If we think about the natural progression, Fire sparked something new back in March and April, especially through Aries, inspiring action and momentum. Then Earth stepped in during Taurus season, helping to ground those ideas and begin shaping them into something tangible.
Now, with Gemini, we arrive at the stage of reflection and refinement. Air helps us process what has taken place, ask questions, and begin to understand what is truly worth moving forward with.
Air is the realm of the mind. It’s how we take in information, sort through it, and begin to communicate our thoughts and ideas with the world around us.
This is Gemini energy, curious, social, and always seeking new perspectives. It thrives on movement, connection, and the joy of discovery. There’s a lightness here, a sense of play, and an openness to explore, trusting that you’ll figure it out as you go.
It’s a refreshing way to begin the summer season, inviting us to stay open, engaged, and mentally flexible.
This energy carries us through until the Sun moves into Cancer on June 21st, marking the Summer Solstice, the official start of summer, and a shift into a more emotional and intuitive space.
Venus & Jupiter in Cancer: Opening the Heart
We begin to feel hints of this shift around June 9th, when Venus forms a conjunction with Jupiter in the sign of Cancer.
This alignment carries an expansive, heart-centered energy, blending growth, emotional connection, and a deeper sense of what truly matters.
Venus and Jupiter, the two planets most closely associated with love and abundance, come together here to open the heart in a meaningful way. There can be a natural sense of optimism, a feeling that something is unfolding in your favor, and a desire to nurture and support the people you care about.
With Jupiter expanding whatever it touches, this becomes a beautiful time to set intentions or simply get clear on what you want to invite into your life.
Whether it’s in your relationships, your finances, or the feeling of peace and comfort within your home, this energy supports you in envisioning what is possible and beginning to align with it.
"When the heart is open and the energy is this receptive, what you place your focus on has a way of taking root more easily."
This is also a powerful moment to work with intention in a more embodied way. Practices like The Art of Manifesting can be especially supportive here, helping you move beyond simply thinking about what you want and into feeling and creating it from within.
If you feel called to explore this more deeply, I’ll be guiding an Art of Manifesting workshop on June 27th at Dancing Moon in Raleigh, NC, where we’ll be working with this energy in a creative and intentional way.
New Moon in Gemini: Permission to Explore
As we move into the month, the New Moon in Gemini arrives on June 14th, offering a meaningful opportunity to begin working more intentionally with this energy.
New Moons are always a time for new beginnings, and in Gemini, they invite us to plant seeds around creativity, curiosity, and joyful self-expression. There is a lightness to this New Moon, a reminder that not everything has to be so serious or fully figured out right away. It encourages you to explore new ideas, follow what feels interesting, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that simply want to create, share, and experience joy.
What makes this New Moon especially supportive is its flowing connection to the North Node in Pisces. This adds a deeper layer of soul guidance, gently encouraging you to trust yourself and the path that is unfolding. This energy is not just about what you are creating, but about allowing yourself to show up as you are, expressing what feels true, and trusting that this is part of your natural path forward.
This is a beautiful time to set intentions that come from both the mind and the heart.
At the same time, Chiron is forming a supportive connection to this New Moon, highlighting opportunities for healing around communication and self-expression.
If you’ve experienced self-doubt around sharing your ideas, finding your voice, or trusting your perspective, this is a time where real growth can happen. There is support here to work through those blocks, helping you feel more confident in expressing what’s on your mind and in allowing your voice to be heard.
Summer Solstice & Cancer Season: Turning Inward
The Sun moves into Cancer on June 21st, bringing with it the Summer Solstice, the official beginning of summer and the longest day of the year here in the Northern Hemisphere.
This moment marks a powerful turning point, a shift from the outward momentum of the past few months into a more inward, reflective space.
As a water sign, Cancer connects us to our emotional world, our feelings, our intuition, and the quieter, more subtle layers of our experience. It speaks to the power of what lies beneath the surface, including our unconscious desires and the emotional currents that guide our decisions and shape our path forward.
Cancer is often considered the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, but that sensitivity is also its strength. This is a time to listen more closely to what you’re feeling, to trust your intuition, and to allow your imagination to support you rather than work against you.
When you’re tuned in, you gain a deeper understanding of what truly nurtures and sustains you.
First Quarter Moon in Libra: Adjusting the Path
At the same time, the Moon enters her First Quarter phase in Libra.
This is a point in the lunar cycle where some tension can begin to build, as the energy asks for action and adjustment. You may start to feel a bit challenged in staying the course, or find yourself questioning your direction. Something may arise that calls for a decision or a shift in approach.
With this phase taking place in Libra, there is a gentle reminder that you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. There can be real value in including someone else in the process, whether through conversation, collaboration, or simply gaining another perspective.
Libra highlights the balance between giving and receiving, and sometimes the support or clarity you need comes through connection with others. This phase is not meant to throw you off track. It’s a turning point. It helps you refine your path, recommit to what matters, and move forward with greater clarity and intention.
You might take a moment here to check in with yourself: what still feels aligned, and what may be asking for a small shift or adjustment?
Closing the Month: Capricorn Full Moon, Mercury Retrograde & Jupiter in Leo
We close out the month with three major astrological shifts, all occurring on June 29th. We have a Full Moon in Capricorn, Mercury in Cancer turning retrograde, and Jupiter moving into the sign of Leo.
There is a lot coming to the surface here, so let’s take a moment to break it down and move through it with clarity and intention.
We already know that the Full Moon represents the peak of the lunar cycle, a time when everything is illuminated and brought into full awareness. This is when we begin to see clearly.
You may experience moments of insight, sudden realizations, or begin to recognize the results of something you set into motion around the New Moon.
With this Full Moon taking place in Capricorn, the focus turns toward commitment, responsibility, and long-term goals. Capricorn asks us to stay the course, to remain grounded, and to continue building toward what truly matters, even when it requires patience and discipline. It reminds us that meaningful growth often happens over time, through steady effort and intentional action.
At the same time, Mercury in Cancer turns retrograde, asking us to slow down and turn inward. This is a period of reflection, especially around our emotional world, our past, and the way we communicate what we feel. You may also find yourself revisiting themes connected to your work, your direction, or how you are showing up in the world, offering a chance to reflect more deeply on whether it still feels aligned. You may find yourself revisiting old conversations, memories, or patterns that are ready to be seen from a new perspective. Rather than pushing forward, this is a time to pause, listen more closely, and allow a deeper understanding to emerge.
And just as this reflective energy settles in, Jupiter moves into Leo, opening the door to a new chapter of growth centered around confidence, creativity, and self-expression. After a period of emotional reflection, this shift brings a renewed sense of energy, an invitation to step forward, and to share more of yourself.
There is a natural balance here.
Capricorn grounds you in what is real and lasting.
Mercury retrograde helps you reconnect with what is true on a deeper level.
And Jupiter in Leo encourages you to move forward with confidence, trusting in what you’ve come to understand.
As we close out the month, you may feel both the weight of responsibility and the spark of something new beginning to rise. Trust that both are part of the process.
You are being asked to refine your path, reconnect with what matters most, and begin stepping into a version of yourself that feels more aligned, more confident, and more fully expressed.
